EKS Auto Mode
Overview
EKS Auto Mode is a feature that implements automatic scaling and management capabilities for AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) clusters within the Container Platform. See ticket 8274 for the initial implementation.
EKS Auto Mode Managed Components
At time of writing, EKS Auto Mode manages:
- Karpenter, for auto-scaling the compute of your cluster
- AWS Load Balancer Controller to allow you to easily expose Kubernetes services via automated Elastic Load Balancer integration
- VPC CNI
- Cluster DNS
- kube-proxy
- EBS CSI
- EKS Pod Identity Agent
- EKS Node Monitoring Agent
